Message from the Mayor

Since my State of the City address the City has been working hard to implement the Strengthen Orlando plan. This initiative was designed to help create jobs, provide economic stimulus, connect residents and businesses with vital resources, and ensure that Orlando remains on track for a prosperous future.

As a part of the Strengthen Orlando initiative, I have launched a Buy Local Orlando campaign, recognizing that local businesses drive our local economy. The campaign is a pro-active and practical approach for connecting the businesses of Orlando with the buying power of the local community.

When we buy locally we are making a significant investment in our local community by supporting and strengthening community businesses, providing jobs for our residents and keeping more dollars in our community.

During this time of economic decline, we should remember that when we are shopping for goods, services, entertainment and dining options, it is important do it locally. Buy Local Orlando is designed to educate our City businesses and community residents on just that and to remind them think local when considering where to make purchases and to buy local whenever possible.

I believe enhancing local spending is critical to helping our community’s economy rebound.

Through your involvement in Buy Local Orlando, you are joining businesses, community groups and citizens working together to shape a stronger community economy.
